As the Gen IV series engines are smaller than both the Gen I and the rover and both the rover and GenI fit in the capri engine bay then the Gen IV should fit. Not done it but everything says it should fit :D .

as Kiwi said engine should fit. Getting a gear box in the tunnel will need a bit of work though I think. T56 is a big box from what I hear.

I believe ford stuck a 302 in a capri and flogged it in South Africa for a while (and it has been done quite a few times since).
Furgison did a capri with a 289 and one of their 4 wheel drive systems, I doubt the transmission tunnel was very standard though and the only one I ever saw had a full cage in it and was a road rally car.
Could always buy the LS with the auto box on the back of it, I think they are quite alot smaller than the T56.

Geoff Uren made V8 capris as well savage Cortinas , but the Basil Green Peranas are the better known, and Peranas were 302s, I have a strange feeling crayford and SuperSpeed either made or were looking into making 302 powered Capris and Granadas
The Furgeson FF system was fitted to Capris, but as far as I am aware was only v6s were made, there were RallyX cars made that were so successful they had to be given time penalties to give the others a chance, I seem to remember they were sponsored by the Daily Express, and driven by a certain Mr Roger Clark.
The FF was also fitted to the Mk4 Zephyr Zodiac and submitted to the constabulary for testing but were deemed to heavy,

Stick a T5 behind the chevy, the gearbox will fit even a small tunnel Mk1 capri,

Surely the T5 will be minced with the torque? They're not good for more than 300-350 right?

A T5 should be ok if you don't go mad with the tuning.
sorry I stand corrected with the FF Capri, thought the one I saw was a V8 but I was only 16, still a very impressive road car!!
Must have been a bit of a dissapointment a FF system in a Zephyr with a ford V4 from what I remember the v4 was quoted at about 55 or 60 bhp, add to that a fourwheel drive system that probably absorbed a further 15 BHP that must have been safe but dull.

I really don't know my late '60s fords do I!!
Though a 136 bhp V6 less whatever BHP the FF system took into a ton and a half of leaf sprung ford saloon can't have been that much fun.

I'm not so sure it'll fit and I have worked with ls engines and capri's. the tight spot will be at the rear of the heads and the start of the bell housing area. You need to take some measurements.

UK-Robert ( or username very similar to that ) fitted one to his Capri. He used a TKO600.

it will fit just fine.

Unless the tunnel is vastly different to my car, I'd say the T56 will fit too, with relatively minor tunnel adjustments
