oil filter thread

Post by Ralphh85 »

im trying to find an oil filter which will fit the rover V8 ('89 range rover) but is smaller.

basically to avoid needing a remote oil filter. its only just hitting my suspension arm and wouldnt need to be much smaller to fit, and the std one is big so there must be another car out there with a smaller one with same fitment?

Ralph

edit, RR V8 has a 3/4 unf thread i have just found out.

i think jap and european cars tend to use M18 and M20 oposed to the 3/4 unf.

my plan is to go halfrauds and try couple different filters since they have them on the shelf.

went in halfords and tried a load, the smallest one i could find fits dihasu charade and few other small engines dihasu's, but its very small, would htis effect oil flow in anyway do you think??

other one fitted chrislar ugly car etc etc, up to a 2.3L and was a bit bigger but still alot smaller than the V8 one,

would a smaller filter have any negetive effects other than clogging up quicker? which isnt a problem as i can change it more often and may fit a remote housing eventually anyway??
