Righto, received and email this morning regarding classic conversions 4-link kit for the MGB. They've just finished the kit now, and price is $1143 plus shipping, which isn't bad at all! I spoke to Bill personally and the kit is transferrable - as in you should be able to use it for a range of axles. I have no affiliation etc. with classic conversions - just that they seem to have a hell of a lot of knowledge and skills when it comes to MGBs and the kit is very good. Additional bonus is that it requires no modifications to the body/chassis - the whole thing uses standard mounting points, and the only bit of welding required is for the brackets on the axel. When i originally contacted Bill at xmas, he was willing to ship the kit without the shocks, therefore potentially reducing the shipping costs significantly. Gaz shocks in the UK can make any shocks to any spec, and Bill mentioned he would also be willing to supply the spec details of the coilovers.
I'm planning on getting one of these kits relatively soon (well, as soon as mine is on the road lol!)
can I have the contact email please. I think my new engine will need a better rear end than just cart springs and tramp bars. I'm hoping that the kit could be modified for a Healey.
I don't see why it can't be, quite a versatile kit from the info I have been reading and what Bill has told me. I've sent the email over to you, if you contact him mention my name.
I have just requested shipping costs to the UK for a complete kit, and without the shocks (plus kit price without the shocks). Will update as soon as I hear anything.
Its the bloody import duty that you have to pay when you pick it up from the Royal mail depot....

yeah yeah i'm fully aware of import duty unfortunately! Reason I asked about shipping without the shocks, is that they constitute most of the weight of the kit, so should save a fair bit there. Additionally, they probably add up to a fair amount of the kit price, which should hopefully reduce the import duty somewhat. Even so, with import duties included on the full price kit, it's still far cheaper than anything over here (there isn't an off-the-shelf 4-link kit for the MG or similar so it'd have to be custom).
I still haven't heard anything back from them yet, but willemail them next week when i start my new job. I should hopefully be looking to get a kit towards xmas time.

Finally got an update on this. Bill just sent me an email, they'll do a kit without coilovers for $1,050, which is $300 cheaper than the current price list (price gone up). Gaz can make custom coilovers here in the UK if you contact them direct. Although you only save $300 on the kit price, there's a massive saving on shipping as it halves the weight of the kit, and also saves on import duty etc.
I've asked for a price, including shipping, to the UK. Have also asked about a group buy discount if there are anyone else interested. Will keep you all posted.
Probably looking at about $1250 all in plus import duties etc. By comparison Frontline 5-link kit is £1500 - this is purely bolt on but weighs a lot more than the Classic Conversions kit (which is 47lb lighter than the cart spring set up from the factory!!!).
thanks
BTW the kit is transferable and should be able to be used on most solid axels; MGB, Ford, Chevy, SD1 etc. by modifying the mounting brackets. The kit is, however, specific to the MGb as it uses the spring & damper mounts etc.
