Used Cloyes timing chain, lifters, pushrods etc

Post by chodjinn »

Righto, since i am back thinking about a special RV8 build, I've been offered a set of Cloyes timing chain, solid lifters and heavy duty pushrods for a very good price.

The question is, shall I or not? I have heard it's not a good idea to re-use old lifters, and also possibly the timing chains, but what about pushrods? Or would they all be ok?

And what are the differences between hi-rev lifters and solid lifters, which would be best for a turbo RV8 build?

Finally, with regard to rockers, apart from 'Group A' aka Volvo rockers and Roller Rockers, are there any other adjustable rockers out there, or is it just adjustable pushrods instead??

thanks in advance

oh yeah, and I currently have a Kent 214 cam which has hardly been used - is that compatible with solid lifters and the rest of the above etc?

Your cam is a hydraulic cam so no good with solid lifters apart from that their usless as have been used. Chain depends if you have the cogs for it or not, pushrods are fine though.
