Clutch Types Question

Post by TVRTASMIN »

I've just bought a QH207AF clutch kit which is listed for the SD1 up to 1985.
The kit contains a thrust bearing (RHP 34/W1 1/2). No carrier.
A clutch plate and cover.

The question i have is that i have two other worn clutches made by Borg & Beck (LC03LR002A) and the cover fingers are different to the QH one.
The Borg & Beck cover has the fingers turned in on a slight curve where the thrust bearing would touch, but the QH cover fingers are straight.
The height to the top of the clutch fingers measured when the cover is sat on a flat surface is 55mm for the Borg & Beck and 58mm for the QH cover.

Check the thrust bearing faces . . .

Curved clutch fingers normally go with a thrust bearing with a flat face.

Flat clutch fingers normally go with a thrust bearing with a curved face.

Flat face/curved fingers is the norm on clutches these days.
