Emerald K3 on a Rv8.... software

Post by pupp »

Anyone using this set up with a vista lappy via usb-serial converter? Just trying to get a new install up but have some random problems going on with log-offs and changing values/failures to read... wondering if it's a vista/usb issue or if I've got some noise in the car wiring?

Oh, and 'hi' :)

Are you using the right sort of USB to Serial port adapter. It must be the one that has the FTDI chip not the prolific one as found in most high street shops.

Using the incorrect cable can result in data corruption and in some circumstance the ecu crashing resulting it need to be returned to have the firmware reset.

TBH, I'm not sure whether the chipset is the FTDI spec one but it was a decent lead and does work with my Innovate LC1 (which I know is sensitive to non-compatible USB adapters). I'll buzz Karl tomorrow

Did you get the Tech Bulletin note from Emerald with your ECU.

Emerald can supply the correct cable or it can be obtained from here >> http://www.easysync.co.uk/index.html?la ... t=d12.html

Let us know what Carl has to say

No, there was something with some dire warnings about only using the supplied comms lead due to their bespoke wiring standard... will post up any info I suss. Thanks for the link, is that the exact same item that Emerald supply?
