adjustable tappets

Post by Marsho »

Hi, this might seem a daft question but what gap do you set your adjustable rokers/tappets to? when reading a lot of post on here different people have different cams for different applications, so how do you know what the gap should be? is it related to the valve lift or is there a standard setting, hope some one can advise as it does confuse me, thanks .

Are you talking about adjustable push rods and hydraulic lifters? if so with lifters empty you want to set the pre load on the lifters to 20thou for optimum performance with any hydraulic cam.

In that case I would check with the cam manufacturer, I have heard of anything between 16 and 22thou for solid cams.
