custom drive shafts

Post by Ralphh85 »

ok, now lookign at gettign a drive shaft lengthened,

i have spoken to a "dave mac propshafts" and basically he said i will need a new drive shaft making up, £225 plus VAT,

or they could friction weld it together which wouldnt be strong enough but is only £85 plus vat.

anyone got any other methods?

reallyi want one as cheap as possable just to test, so was thinking of getting it TIGed togeather with a sleeve?

once i know it works etc i dont really mind paying £225, but its alot of expence to find out i have a further problem and its not goign to work!

What is the driveshaft length you require?

What PCD on the CV's?

Perhaps one from another brand of car may fit.

I've used Bailey Morris and Reco-prop in the past. Both have modified propshafts for me by using the old end pieces but fitting a new tube to give the right length. And balancing it.

Cost about £100+vat

This is an area were you really just need to bite the bullet and pay to get it done properly.

When you need a longer shaft, pretty sure they will always replace the entire tube.

Such work never seems to be cheap.
