Clutches Compatibility
After the weekend, im still puzzled to wether the clutch was slipping or i lost traction on gear changes when the gas cut in or my lsd is slipping,
Do any of the cosworth clutches fit the RV8 flywheel and inputshaft?
reason i ask the AP racing clutch im using now is
Rover V8 and TR8

The input shafts are very slightly different in that the rover is imperial and the cosworth is metric. This will mean a slight miss match on the plate splines but if it will matter I have no idea. What I can say is that McLeod went to the bother of making a specific plate to fit the cosworth T5 so they seem to think it matters. The clutch cover plate wont fit the flywheel tho as its a different bolt pattern. Might be possible to re-drill the flywheel but you would probably have to get it balanced after that.
i wonder if AP would do me a clutch to the cossie spec?
i gather the plates would be similar albeit different splines,
would it be just the cover plate that has a better clamping force?

i have watched this over and over again,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARPoGxaKIys
and im starting to think its not a clutch issue maybe a fuelling issue as in too much at WOT,
as the revs die and pick up slow not like if the clutch was slipping.

im wondering if when on gas theres too much fuel when at WOT and fuel accel enrich, as well as the nitrous fuel enrichment,
sound logical?
im thinking im going to have to do a datalog when on gas again

Tony,
I'm glad you started this thread because I had completely forgotten that I had to get a new clutch so that it can be balanced with the rest of the internals.
I am wondering if the standard clutch kit CP 2000-13 will stand up to the torque of the new engine which is 4.35L with the equivalent of stage 3 heads and Crower 50232 cam, in a car weighing approx 2350lbs.
I don't really want to go for a heavy duty clutch if I can avoid it as I dont wan't a very heavy clutch action, being a feeble old git.
Problem is I just don't know what level of torque the engines going to make, i can guess at 260 BHP and probably 280lb/ft of torque.
The CP2000-13 is rated at 270lb/ft but that is in the much heavier SD1 and I will probably lose traction before the clutch slips anyway.
Anyone care to comment.
Kevin.

Think it depends where you look. Burtons have Cossie down as 1"

Same clutch can be used in old Type 9 as the T5
