were there different types of EFi through the years? or was it not developed any more?
as said in another thread it origanaly only did fueling and used dizzy/coil for the ignition, is this std on all engines to??

The 3.5 EFi was flapper type EFi with magnetic pickup distributor.
The 3.5 EFi then went to an updated system with a hotwire air flow meter but with the same ignition system. I'm not sure if this had the option for lambda sensors or not.
The 3.9 EFi was always hotwire with the same magnetic pickup distributor.
The 4.0 / 4.6 litre engines in the Range Rover P38 had a full engine management system that did ignition timing as well, so there was no distributor.
I'm not sure if there were any 4.0 litre discoveries with distributor, I don't think so.
There were two types of system on the 4.0 / 4.6 engines, the earlier GEMS which looked similar to the earlier type (plenum chamber wise). The later Thor had the fancy looking inlet with the throttle body at the front rather than the middle.
