3.9 serp lifting eye brackets.

Post by ihatesissycars »

Has anyone got a picture of the lifting eye bracket that mounts to the front of the passenger side head?

I believe it gets sandwhiched by the pas pump and the head.

Reason i ask is that the serp pump i have can only mount by two of its bolts. the 3rd remaining bolt just goes to fresh air so i've looked and searched for piccies on the net but can't find a clear one which answers my question but i've seen enough to know that the lifting eye goes between the pump and heads so its possible that this may have something to do with it, can anyone help?

When putting the belt on and tensioning it the pump flexes slightly so i don't want to risk leaving it as it is obviously!

Or could it be the later heads used on serp 3.9's and 4.6's etc have different bolt hole locations?

Mine are worked early heads.

Hi Gav,If you have a copy of Rimmer Bros V8 catalogue that shows you a picture of the cylinder heads, page 10,this shows two different bolt arrangements 3 or 4 bolt on the vertical face on the ends of the heads.
Hope this helps,John.
