fuel pipe diameters?

Post by cswagon »

Hello,
I have just fitted a 3.5 v8 on carbs and I need to pipe the fuel lines from scratch.
Could any one please tell me the inside diameters of the flow and return pipes from tank to carbs.
From memory, I think the return pipe is a smaller diameter to restrict the flow but i cannot remember by how much.
Any help would be greatfully received.
Many thanks,
Graham.

Are you sure you have a return line from the carbs? I didn't with either twin SUs or weber 500 . . . return lines are normally for EFI engines.

As for size, 8mm should be well enough unless you're running silly power levels.

I'm pretty sure that you have a return pipe as both my carbed v8's have a pipe going into the left hand carb which is tee'd over to the right hand one and again has a tee pipe for a return to tank line. And all of this is done with proper pipes and olives just as it shows in the parts manual so I expect it's a Landrover/Rangerover set-up.
The only problem is that you cant tell what size flexibles went on to these.
Cheers Graham.

why don't you just remove one and measure it?
