Gasket Matching
Just got a new comp valley gasket which I'm going to use with the Buick 300 Heads, coincidentally they are a perfect match for the larger Buick ports.
The question is that after machining the decks by 10-15thou and the heads by 20-30thou will I have a problem of the gasket sitting to high in the valley in relation to the inlet port openings?
I suppose if the gasket sits a little too high, say 30 - 40thou I could just open up the lower port area of the gasket to match, the actual bolt holes seem quite large and there is scope to move the gasket a little or is there a better solution?
Kevin.

Marki,
With the ports of the Buick head being 6mm. larger in height ie 3mm. either side of the bolt holes there should hopefully be more than enough metal for the gasket to seal to, it's almost as if the comp gasket was made for the buick heads.
Just in case I do still have a problem, where abouts did you cut the gasket and what did you use to glue it back together, presumably you just butted it together, did it still seal ok?
