Struggling to get my V8 through trackday noise tests.
Drive by testing is not a problem, its the static test measured at 4500rpm with the meter 500mm away at 45 degrees.
Being absoluteley useless at electrics I was wondering if I could wire something into the feed from the coil to make the tacho read slightly high by a thousand rpm or so at the flick of a switch.
I think 3/4 max revs would be a lot fairer as some engines rev to 9k but are still tested at 4500rpm

ideas anyone?

If you look in the back of the tach, there may be a hole, or a small screwdriver slot that can be used to adjust the zero, set the zero to 1k and that could work

Do you have an X pipe? or a crossover between the pipes?? These have
been known to quiet the "only annoying to some people" sound...

Hi,
If your rev counter has a cylinder selector on the back, just switch it to the 6 cylinder setting.
This should make it read high by about 25% , and when the engine's not running the tacho will show zero.

Its probably easiest If I buy a switchable tacho and set it to 6 cyl.
