Holley 390 angle

Post by martin_t »

Hi
I have just bought a Holley 390 for my RV8 in a Gardner Douglas Cobra with an Edelbrock Performer manifold. Because the Engine is installed level the manifold angle tilts forward. I bought an angle plate (5degrees) when I got the carb, but if I put that between the manifold and carb then it tilts back to far!! How critical is this angle and would I be better just leaving the wedge plate off and accepting the slight forward angle (possibly 2.5 degrees), or should I get the wedge plate machined?

Thanks

Martin

Sorry I dont have a definitive answer for you but I have a similar situation in a kit where the engine is only at a very slight incline - couple of inches front to back - and I am putting the Offy inlet on the Mill to correct the mounting angle so that the Holley is horizontal.

5 degrees on the float level side to side I would think would only be 2-3mm +/- mean level so negligible but if you have access to the machinery as I do then why not.

Cheers

Andrew
