Rover valley gasket leaking
Has anybody found a way to stop the oil leak from the valley gaskey on a rover? I use the comp gasket, have tried sealant on both my engines and they both leak. Any ideas? Thanks again.
Check that the crankcase is ventilating properly, to make sure that it's not excess pressure that's forcing the oil out.
The weak point in my experience is at the ends where there's a little wedge shaped bit on the seal. I just pust a spot of sealant in there.

I would second the above advice, It is essential to have a proper positive crankcase vent system. When we fitted the coposite gasket to my engine we left out the rubber seals and just put a blob of silicione sealer in the four gaps at the side where the heads mate to the block. It also helps to put a large washer on the hold down bolts as it stop the clamps moving sideways and give better clamping to the gasket.
Mines been like that for four years and there's no sign of any leak.

if you have an EFI setup the breather hole into the plenum always gets blocked , the one where the rocker vent go's to
it do's a dogleg ..the best way round it is to just drill straight through from the outside
but then make sure you have a clean crankcase intake filter or you'll be sucking the valley gasket in ...lol
