Toothed Wheel for MS Install Question

Post by 14500rpm »

I'm about to install the 36-1 wheel I bought from trigger-wheels.com and have a query about how important it is to find TDC on No.1 cylinder when fitting it - do I need to use a dial gauge to get it spot on or will it be sufficient to take out a spark plug, put a bit of wire down the hole and get it 'near enough'?

Once this is done I was going to align the VR sensor with the centre of tooth No.9 and use these settings (from the MSnS Extra manual)

Advice appreciated!

Depends on how bothered you are about the accuracy.
Use a bit of wire down the plug hole to deturmine how accurate your existing TDC marker is - if it looks accurate, then run with it.

Another way, is to make a piston stop and a degree wheel to find it.

Thanks Eliot, the piston stop is a good idea - from a brief inspection sometime ago I think my timing marks are a mile out :(
