low oil pressure

Post by nickm »

I have just rebuilt my 3.9 pre serp engine with new bearings, oil pump, stage 3 heads, piper 270 cam etc.It was rebored 20 thou and the crank was measured up and found to be within tolerance. When I fired it up it was showing 50psi with aboout 2000 rpm but after 5 mins running it now shows about10psi.Any ideas?

i had a similar thing with my engine last year,
turned out to be a sticking relief valve like marki has posted above,
we tried alsorts to correct it with no joy, in the end i bought a tadpole valve to replace the factory one.
