Sutible Engine

Post by josa »

Need some help please, I have a V8 for an Landrover 101 Forward control which has done about 20km. I plan to use this to upgrade my TR7 to a V8. I would like to know if members think this is a sutible engine to use or should I look for something differrent?

thanks in advance
josa :D

Someone did say that a Chevy LS engine would fit no problem. This would be a hoot.

Look for something different. The 101 engine is unusual in a number of respects.

Get an SD1 engine (or a car engine). Don't get a Range Rover engine as the water pump is much higher up (not good for a TR7!)

It might be a suitable block, but I suspect you will be saddened by the power output of around 115HP.

I think it is 115BHP once you have taken the restrictor plate out  I remember them being about 90 BHP with the plate.

For this kind of power it's not worth even starting. The original engine produced as much. :?:

The SD1 and later versions are much better, the 101 FC was a gun tractor so needed lots of torque and had limited the top end HP so your average highly trained driver didn't turn it over going into the first corner he came to.
