hotwire toubleshooting

Post by southsea stag »

Can anyone help? Just put a 3.9efi into a stag but having starting problems, it starts for a few seconds and then stalls. Changed the stepper motor as it had siezed and still the same. When it starts, it idles about 2500 rpm for a short time and the manifolds get very hot for the short time it runs.
Any ideas would be much apprieciated.
Cheers

is the fuel pump running while the engine is running?
is the fuel lines round the correct way?
are you using a correct efi rated fuel pump?

The fuel pump is from an sd1 which I'm told is o.k, I believe the pump is running because when I unplug the stepper motor it will continue to run although eratically so i'm thinking the pump's still going, I don't run it too long because of the manifolds getting very hot. I'm positve the flow and return are o.k being the return coming off the regulator.
