New engine no oil pressure.

Hello looking for some advice I have rebuilt a 4.6 serpentine motor tand dropped it in my tvr wedge I filled the oil up today and cranked it over without the plugs in but no oil pressure registered at all.
I didn't realise I had to pack it out with vaseline when I built it.
I have taken the remote oil filter off and tried priming it that way with no success I also poured some in through the pressure switch opening.
The oil pump was stripped and cleaned thoroughly relief valve cleaned and replaced now one thing I did do was use the remote filter system that was on the original 3.5 motor not sure if it could be the issue or are they all the same?
Ps new oil pump internals were used.

This has come up a few times over the last 20 odd year on this site.

The serpentine does not need Vaseline packing
Cranking speed is not high enough to spin the pump fast enough
General consensus was to start the engine and oil pressure should arrive almost immediately.


But don’t take my word on this….search this site and you should get people more in the know who have done it!

starting probably will be fine.

On other engines in the past I've hooked up a vacuum pump to an oil port ( pressure switch or similar ) and applied vacuum to try and pull oil up during cranking and it has worked ok.

Or if you've lots of time and patience, you could do similar and feed or pump oil in backwards to try and prime the system before cranking. Gravity would it alone if you can rig something up, but you might need to leave it for a few days and monitor oil level that has been ingested.
