SU HIF6 Fuel Inlet Port Leak

Post by z4cats »

Hello all.

I have a slight leak from the union on my N/S carb on my 3.5 Rover.
I have tried applying some PTFE tape, but that hasn't made any difference.

So, how hard is it to get the whole pipe removed from the casting and replaced?
I can't find anything on the Burlen site that helps.

It is a FZX 1270L if that helps.

Thanks

If you mean the fuel inlet pipe, I think they are just pushed into the ally casting! Probably with some kind of glue.

Chris.

All done.

I ordered a new one from Burlen. Approx £1+postage

The old one did not want to come out, so was lightly drilled with a 6mm bit until it span and was able to pull out.

New pipe arrived - didn't think to ask for the olive though, so - where do you get a 6mm brass olive from then?

Well, luckily I have a branch of Unimaster near me, and in their bits room some olives.

The new pipe went in with a bit of persuasion and it all bolted up fine.

A branch of Unimaster? Don't you mean THE Unimaster? Roger and the boys always provide superb service. Made me a hydraulic line only this week...and they are the very best for over the counter fastener availability :)

Indeed you are right, I thought they were bigger.

Is a fabulous resource for bits for my old Land Rover
