The right cam can make a lot of difference.
my 4.0 race engine failed running a emerald ECU, so to get me running a put a standard 3.9 LR engine in, but with a 4.0 front end and inlet, and shortened trumpets.
I was only getting about 180 BHP, but a camshaft change took this upto 225BHP with standard ...

You may want to check you have a pre-filter, injection pumps should have a corse pre-filter before the pump then a fine one after.
Also are you using injection hose, as I thought the over braid hose was only for Carbs.

Quite a while back my newly built 4.0 engine, had a camshaft failure after less than 20 miles.
I've since re-used this block to make a 4.6.
I've still got the old 4.6 block and all the 4.0 parts.
So if I rebuilt this as a spare engine. could I re-use the rings, or would I have to fit new ones.

The comp valley gaskets are just tin ones with a nice coating on them. The coating itself does compress and makes a nice seal anyway. I've changed these at the track a few times and fitted them dry with no issues. Come to think of it. The last coated valley gasket was re-used 5 times and didnt leak ...

Rock oil, do a mineral 20/50 this also has the required ZDDP plus other anti wear properties

small tip on original style pump if you fill via the pump housing via a funnel and run the dissy drive backwards it will suck the oil from the funnel, then remove and run forward ...

I bet the rod ends are a bugger to get out eh?

I was just looking at the bits and laid a rod next to a normal one when I saw the problem luckily. Good job I wasnt in "ooh I've got to get my new bits in asap" mode or I would have done the same as you.

Wotland, no offence taken as I too don't regularly exceed 3 to 4 G on the road for sustained periods ;-)

Does anyone know if the Banana Plenum throttle body has a PCV built in or do you need a separate one.
Also does anyone know what flame trap is used.

I'm only using the throttle body and rocker covers with a custom plenum, so never had all the bits.

Yep they do come out longer than required.

I had mine trimmed at a machine shop to be the same length as standard rods with the adjustable ends fitted adjusted out by 1/4 inch.

This left me with rods that I could adjust each way quite a bit.

The end that gets trimmed also had to be slight bored ...

Anyone Found the RS adjustable rods to be too long.
I fitted a set to a 4.2 that had a lot of block skimmed.
it was running 120 thou of Shims, and this was causing the rockers to wear/break up on the tips.
So decided to fit new rockers and adjustable rods, but the rods with ends fitted was 8920 thou ...

Hi Dave,

Do these filters work fine inverted, as most of the TVR wedge cars run a remote filter that's inverted.

I think the length maybe a problem, but will try and measure the total clearance tonight.
