Is there an easy way to tell what needles you have and what would be best?

I have an 3.5 8.35CR running a standard cam with some SU's fitted with unknown vintage.

The one in the background of the picture is a landrover part ANR1808
used on V8's and diesel engines. I think they were £2.50 each from a land rover parts supplier when I bought a pair.

Is the idea to get as low CO reading as possible???

Could I use it to check if I need to swap needles by measuring CO2 levels at different rev ranges?

Hi Guys,

When replacing my points dizzy with a 35DLM8 I noticed it had a sleeve over the stop for the bob weights. I assume this effectivley reduces the max mechanical advance a bit. Would there be any benefit from removing the sleeve (It comes off easily enough) or should I leave it alone?

Thanks for the offer but its only a fact finding mission at the moment.

Before I start converting to injection I have a few other jobs to sort out:

Fix the horendous whine from the gearbox
Stop the overdrive leaking oil.
Work out why when I drive through a puddle the roof lining ...

Now that I have got my landy back on the road and starting to think ahead to all the upgrades I can do to it.

I am thinking about at least replacing my Dizzy with either Megajplt or MS and toying with EFI so MS seems the way to go.
