Is there an easy way to tell what needles you have and what would be best?

I have an 3.5 8.35CR running a standard cam with some SU's fitted with unknown vintage.

Cheers

The one in the background of the picture is a landrover part ANR1808
used on V8's and diesel engines. I think they were £2.50 each from a land rover parts supplier when I bought a pair.

Here you go £1.89

Summit Racing do various filter relocation kits with spin on adaptors that will fit where the oil filter goes.

Hi Malc, After 110,000 miles there is a chance that some engine components could be worn. Camshaft, dizzy etc. These could cause you to be down on power. Have you changed the gearing or fitted bigger tyres? (Should be 32" i.e. 235/85R16 or 7.50x16) A 110 V8 should pull reasonably well even with...

Thanks for the replies. You might find yours is restricted even further as with that low C/R it is probably designed to run safely on rubbish quality petrol in some third world country. The engine is from a 101 Land Rover Gun Tractor so was designed to run on crap fuel. The dizzy is from an EFI Rang...

Composite valley gaskets?????

Whilst playing around under the bonnet today I noticed after turning the engine off a hissing / sizzling noise. It turned out that it was coming from where the inlet manifold meets the cylinder head between the first 2 bolts. There was a very slight water leak that was boiling out of the joint. Is t...

Can anyone help me with this? Today I have tried using both the CO meter and the lifting pin method of adjusting the SU's on my 3.5. Following the landrover manual I have adjusted the jet until its flush with the bridge and then turned the mixture screw 3.5 turns clockwise on both carbs. After reach...

Adjusting SU's and CO levels

I have been loaned an exhaust analyser that measures Carbon Monoxide levels and intend to give my carbs a bit of a tune up.

Is the idea to get as low CO reading as possible???

Could I use it to check if I need to swap needles by measuring CO2 levels at different rev ranges?

Thanks

35DLM8 mechanical advance

Hi Guys, When replacing my points dizzy with a 35DLM8 I noticed it had a sleeve over the stop for the bob weights. I assume this effectivley reduces the max mechanical advance a bit. Would there be any benefit from removing the sleeve (It comes off easily enough) or should I leave it alone? On a 3.5...

Hi Jim, Thanks for the offer but its only a fact finding mission at the moment. Before I start converting to injection I have a few other jobs to sort out: Fix the horendous whine from the gearbox Stop the overdrive leaking oil. Work out why when I drive through a puddle the roof lining, windscreen,...

Flapper or Hotwire?

Now that I have got my landy back on the road and starting to think ahead to all the upgrades I can do to it. I am thinking about at least replacing my Dizzy with either Megajplt or MS and toying with EFI so MS seems the way to go. I have seen various EFI inlet manifolds on ebay and wanted to know w...

I need one of these.

Does anyone know where I can get the part shown below as No. 7 - ETC7061?

Tried a few landrover parts suppliers etc but no joy.

HI guys, Is your Landrover engine fitted with the pulsair system ? No, its a bog standard 3.5. My main concern is that as I will be using this offroad alot and engine braking is pretty important when crawling down a very steep slope, I dont want to end up loosing power with a big bang and effectivle...
