Is there an easy way to tell what needles you have and what would be best?

I have an 3.5 8.35CR running a standard cam with some SU's fitted with unknown vintage.

The one in the background of the picture is a landrover part ANR1808
used on V8's and diesel engines. I think they were £2.50 each from a land rover parts supplier when I bought a pair.

I have been loaned an exhaust analyser that measures Carbon Monoxide levels and intend to give my carbs a bit of a tune up.

Is the idea to get as low CO reading as possible???

Could I use it to check if I need to swap needles by measuring CO2 levels at different rev ranges?

Hi Guys, When replacing my points dizzy with a 35DLM8 I noticed it had a sleeve over the stop for the bob weights. I assume this effectivley reduces the max mechanical advance a bit.
