Hi all
I am going to be looking for a good Tach in the next month or so, obviously for a V8, probably a 5" diamiter with shift light what would people recommend?
It needs to be accurate, able to work with the output from a megasquirt set up (for ignition) and clear and straight forward to see.
I do not want to spend money on "brand names" and pretty lights, and will be using the MSQ for logging. I just just want an accurate Tach.
what should I budget for such a device?
Best regards
Mike

Hi Mike
If you want accurate then I think you should be looking more toward the brand names.
I've got an Autometer tacho in my car and it is super accurate.
Have had a look on the Autometer website and on Summit website and you would be looking between $110 and $150 for a cracker.
The 6845 model might suit you..
Built in shift light with LED's.

Classic Instruments are good bits of kit as well

E bay always an option to have alook on there but beware of Alpha guages as they are shocking.
Just my opinion see what others say

cheers

Hi Paul.
I didn't think of Autometer as a "brand name" I had a look at them and thought of them as mid priced just wasn't sure how accurate they were. By brands I was thinking Smiths or Bosch.
Right I shall have a good look the autometer tachs.
Thanks
Mike
