RV8 crossfire

I am familiar with the recommendation for minimising the risk of crossfiring on the RV8 by separating plug leads 5 & 7.

However, when a wasted spark ignition is installed is it necessary to separate other leads? As an example, when no 1 is firing, no 6 is also sparking and no 8 is only 90 degrees from it's power stroke. So, should leads 6 & 8 be separated to minimise risk of crossfire.

During the complete wasted spark cycle other cylinders also follow close behind their neighbouring leads.

Anybody got any views or published info on this matter?

Cheers Denis

I've got EDIS on my RV8 and I'd say it's impossible to separate the plug leads in the same way as you can on a dizzy. But the correct plug leads and connectors have much better insulation than the original dizzy types. I've not had a problem.

Interesting, I had the same thought. Also using coil packs.

I haven't noticed a problem, just have my leads laid out neatly and using the small clips which came with my leads and seems to run fine.

I wonder how the gems engines with coil packs have their leads laid out?
