short 3.9

i have a short 3.5 sdi engine and want to know
if you can shorten the 3.9 to the same size

Short engines 3.5 - 3.9 are the same essentially Range Rover front cover/water pump is different.
So if you swap the SD1 parts over, e.g. front cover/ pulley and ancillaries, is it to fit and SD1?
