the easy way is leave the dissy in situ and use it to run the pump, but you cam on a Rover cut the top off the dissy and fit a shaft retaining system, so basically you have a stub of a shaft held in the bottom of the dissy body that then fits to the spur gear and still drive the pump

I asked the same question on TurboMustangs forum and was told that I could use a Ford Explorer camshaft phase sensor.

I got one from U.S. Ebay and have just been down the shed to take a picture :D

Still quite long, but not as ugly as an unused dizzy.
I might try to make it shorter when I get the spare time.

Pic of it in place whilst mocking my engine up.

Should look fine with just an aluminum cap fitted.

On the RV8, does the dummy need the shaft retained at the top? Or is it ok to just let it rest on the pump drive? I reckon the gear action will tend to push it upwards, so should be OK when running, the thrust being on the bottom of the dizzy body as usual.
