Rover V8 clutch and slave trubs

Fitted my slave cylinder last week and had troubles as the slave wouldnt go all the way and sat about 15mm from the gearbox mounting face.Packed it out with washers just to make sure it worked which it did,but knew the box would have to come out to sort it properly.
Removed the box and found the fork wasnt attached to the bearing carrier properly.
Fitted it all back up(Bolted the slave to the bellhousing before putting the box back in)
Slave is now sitting as it should be now but the problem now is that the clutch no longer clears.
If you look inside the bellhousing using a torch, you can see the pushrod moving and the system bleeds up ok and has a pedal but even with the pedal pushed through the floor,it still isnt enuff for the clutch to clear?
The Gearbox is a 19D so the post for the clutch arm should be the right one but the release arm and bearing carrier were bought at a later date.
Any ideas folks?
