Hi chaps,
I've got a World Class Cossy T5 (23 spline, 1" shaft) which i want to fit to my small block 302 Ford Windsor that's going in my Capri. The engine is at about 300bhp at the moment and came out of a lilac MK1 pro street capri that some may remember from classic ford quite a few years ago.

Being 1" 23 spline, clutch-wise nothing yank is going to fit. Anyone know what my options are?

I'm planning on getting a bellhousing from Summit when i'm over in the states next week but i'm still not sure which one i need. Looks like 3 choices-

The Ford Racing one jumps out at me, not sure how it compares length-wise to the 2 Lakewood ones that differ. (all of the other bellhousings on offer seem to be the shorter 6.925" though).

Also want to pick up a flywheel ideally, but again not sure what i need weight-wise and how many teeth on the starter ring. Should i just match the amount that's on the engines current flexplate as i've already got the starter motor to suit?

Clutch wise McLeod do clutches that fit the T5 splines or you can get a custom one made for you. Think its helix that do them but am sure Ian S will chip in with the right details as he has used them. Cant help you with much else except be careful wit 302 T5 bellhousings as most of them angle the box slightly anti clockwise. Great for a left hand drive car but not much cope on right hand drive. I would ask if the housing keeps the box straight before you go spending hard earned.

Very good point, i've heard the lakewood ones don't kick over but i'd better email and check because i kinda fancy the Ford Racing one.

I have just asked my mate who has a 302 in a Mk1 Capri with a T5 who thinks its upright, and I tend to go along with him, the 5deg thing may be a TVR/T5 mod which probably means the TVR engine is mounted @ 5 dregs to clear somthing,
Rather than looking in summit for drtails I went to Lakewood.

they dont list a correction bellhousing so I would guess its upright.
Clutch, light car, not too much HP, you would probably get away with a stock clutch kit, or just an mild uprated kit,

Yeah i'll go for a mild upgrade while i'm there, as i'll probably end up squeezing a few more ponies out of it. I actually found a load of clutch friction plates on summit that have the 23 spline 1" shaft hole and they're noted down as plymouth/dodge items. I'm getting them to match one up with a stock size mustang pressure plate (10.5" i think?).

I use a Helix hybred clutch, [rover/toyota,] and took them 3 days to make it too, im sure they could be a cossy friction plate to suit what you need and might well be cheaper than Summit as they are really expensive with their shipping handeling costs

I'm going to be just round the corner from summit in a week or so, shipping won't be a problem! How much was your helix clutch?
