Range Rover clutch in to SD1 g/box?

Can anyone tell me if you can fit the RR clutch on to the 2wd LT77 gearbox?Thanks,Nick

I dont think so, the 2wd bell housing is a lot smaller than the 4wd version.

The 2WD LT77 will mate up to the back of the engine without any problem, its bellhousing is smaller than the 4WD one, but it obviously has a shorter imput shaft to suit. The problem is (IIRC) that the 4WD imput shaft, as well as being longer, is also of a larger diameter, so the 2WD imput shaft will be far too small for the splines on the RR centre plate.

If that is the case you would need a custom centre plate made having the o.d. of the RR plate, with the 2WD spline in the hub. (Assuming that the larger RR pressure plate doesn't foul itself on the inside of the smaller bellhousing.)

the RR clutch is a bigger diameter and won't fit inside the 2wd bell housing ..

slect clutches from the drop down box , you can compare sizes and cross reference too

Thanks for the replies.Will swap clutches over.Shame as RR clutch that came on new engine looks brand new.
