Hi

after just looking over my new inlet manifold, i was pondering the idea of maybe machine the carb mounting plate back to level?

anyone done this?.

looking at it quickly the carb mount will need to be level on my car,but getting the plate to do this might give me clearance issues , with extra 6mm plates i will need to mount the supercharger to to mount this to the inlet manifold.

will this inlet alloy weld okay?

Machined two Offy manifolds to reduce the carb angle by less than half original angle but not machined level as even in very low bonnet angle kit cars the engine still sat back.

No idea about the weldability but cant see it being an issue.

Hi Andy, I extensively machined my Offy 360 manifold and have welded it without problems. I think there is a pic or 2 in my thread in the "Engine swaps and Conversions" area.

thanks for the replys

i will check the engine angle with my current set up weber carb when is back on the floor, off the axle stands.

I need to remove as much as i can to give me more clearance with the charger lower plate.i need the lower area room to fit a bypass valve inlet under the charger.will make a long slot to fit it in , its got 1 1/2 dia inlet for the charger.

thanks for the help :D

Hi,

just been checking the JWR inlet manifold, i think the inlet will have to be machined FLAT to keep the supercharger level and in line with the crankshaft.

correct?
