My new 350 has bad engine vibrations when reaching about 2500rpm that resonate right thru the car, ive not stripped a chev b4 so was wondering if it has a balance weight on it like the cleveland does(it has to be put on 180 degrees opersite to the weight on the frt pulley), if so if the flywheel is fitted at the wrong angle it would run out of balance, can anyone tell me if it has a balance weight on the sbc flywheel and can the flywheel be bolted on in differant posisions. Another thing is the engine mounts look like they have seen better days so maybe thats it too.

hi
depends on the block!
2 piece oil seal 350 is internal ballanced, 400 block all exteral ballance, later 1 piece oil seal blocks are external ballance. aftermarket cranks come all 4 formats , i.e internal and external ballance 2 piece and internal and external ballance 1 piece. on Ebay you can get a piece of metal to bolt to your crank to convert an internal to external, but I don't think the otherway around.
All the best

Not to sure about smallblocks but usually the bolt spacing prevents the flywheel from being fitted in more then one position.
I've got a twinplate sfi rated steel flywheel here going surplus. It's a Mcleod and the aluminium cover looks like it's vette.
