I,m not sure what system i have fitted (it was already installed), but when i switch to gas from petrol there is sometimes a small increase in rpm which settles quickly, but when i switch back to petrol it cuts out. I dont have this on the road yet so all this is at tickover. Any ideas?

Are you running carbs or EFi.

If on carbs the cutting out is caused by the fact that the carbs will be empty of fuel and take a little time to refill.

You should be able to set the system to run for about 4-5 seconds on both so that the carbs refil.

Or get the revs up before flicking it back to petrol. My van will usually stall if it changes over at idle.

Its EFI, it starts right back up no problems after stalling, just wondered if this was a normal reaction from switchback?

EFi suffers from other related issues.

If you dont have injector emulators then the ECU will have gone into default mode and will lean the mixture right out. Also if the fuel pump has been cut (which it should be) the again that and the lean issue can make the engine die at idle.

As Chris says try giving it some revs and then switching over.

Depends which EFi. I've got flapper EFi, and I haven't got injector emulators. I just cut off the coil -ve feed to the ECU when on LPG.

Well landrover on road now & if changed from gas to petrol whilst travelling engine does not cut out, but still does at tickover. Not a problem now.
