Initially, I intend to to retain the standard Rootes axle on my v8 Sceptre. I reckon it's a tough old unit, probably over engineered for the standard application.

The V8 being installed is a standard tune Rover 3500 lump so what do you reckon? Is the Rootes axle man enough for the job? (please bear in mind at 50, I'm no boy racer and I'm not into the 'traffic light Grand Prix' scene ;) )

Odds, I think you are right, possibly, rootes were well known for over engineering things, but-----the other V8 Rootes produced car, Tiger, ran originially a 260cu Ford engine producing probably 240hp on a good day, and that had a 4HA Jaguar style axle, so obviously Rootes Engineers had their doubts,
As for too old to be a Boy racer, dont you beleive it, thats half the fun, Nobody expects an old fart to blow their doors off :D :D :D :D :D :D Nothing like picking on the local TVR or M5 even the odd Ferrari is SUCH GOOD FUN!!!!!!

Hi Ian
we go on holliday to the far east (Loa, vietnam, cambodia,borneo...) off season, about every 2 to3 years when we can aford it, we are pretty good at getting good bargins by hunting around and we always meet a saga group who have paid 3/4 fo what we have for the same holiday, p1$$es us off no end probably right about the 18/30 bit though
I suspect the insurance is geared to toyota prius drivers :?
