suck instead of blow

had a quick look on here about the blow through set up, so had a quick read and a suck through system seems easier, what would be the best way .it would be with a edelbrock 500 but a plenum would need to go under the carb i take it, and wouldnt need to worry about the atmospheric pressure, is that right

Becomes a very high set up- not easy to hide! Plenums/manifolds are custom made, I am making mine up myself, top is basically a plate to go over the top of the blower with a square hole the same size as you get for a 4bbl in any other manifold.

so are you doing a blow through system topcat, that has to be an air tight box aswell , the suck through seems easier ( famous last words ), Could something like a boxer inlet manifold be ok with a blow through

No its suck through, with the eddy on top of the blower. The good thing about a blow through is you can put the blower anywhere! And you dont have to worry about the seals or bearings, and it could fit under the bonnet!

im looking at twin turbos for it, im not bothered about hiding them ,ive already got a scoop on the bonnet as air filter sticks out 2", i might use them on another engine at a later date, are the standard cranks ok and normal pistons, the boost is,nt going to be high, not that i have much idea about turbos

Anythings possible but I think it would be very hard to get a good set up using a 4bbl and TTs, I rekon you either need twin SU's or preferably injection! I'm only really using an eddy for the classic look and simple setup, I think theres a lot more potential with TT's using injection & intercoolers etc, and from what I understand standard pistons are ok for 7/8psi boost, std rods and crank are ok with std pistons.

Blow through is neater and simpler imo plus may be less risky as you don't want fuel in different parts of the intake exp if intercooling.
As for plenums it easy to fit a top hat onto a holley or edlebrock and you won't get any major leaks with modest boost.

im new to turbo stuff, with a blow through doesnt the carb need to put in a air tight box because of atmospheric pressure

Yes but with a holley the float bowl vents are at the top and would be within the top hat

The rest of the carb is already sealed. You only need to enclose the choke area with something like this.
As for leakage around the throttle shafts it's tiny and easy to address. So basically you can forget about big fancy boxes to enclose the carb

so does that sit on top of the carb abit like a air filter, would it be ok with an edelbrock,

Yes, it uses the central bolt and you seal it around the base. This one has 1 pipe for a turbo/supercharger but you could add a second pipe if going TT. It also has 2 small pipes for vacuum/boost guages etc.

so that would be ok with a edelbrock, and it would need 2 pipes as it would be twin turboed, does any body make the hats, and are there any diagrams on the plumbing or the basics.

I do the hats in cast aluminium then weld in tubes or you can do that locally. If intercooling then you have just the one tube from the I/c to the hat. If non intercooled then you would have a pipe from each turbo into the hat.

i would,nt need a huge intercooler would i, how much are the hats, and would i need to get any mods done to the carb,
