Hi there as you can see this is my first post so be gentle with me

I am getting a HC Vauxhall Viva and would like to fit it with a V8 . I went to east coast customs today and mentioned that I would like to fit a rover engine in the car and there reply was why not fit a small block ? Well I was thinking that the rover would be a smaller engine but they said that its about the same size as a small block can anyone confirm this ?
Thanks

depends on which small block, ive got a 302 sbf fitted in my mk1 escort, the big difference in them is the rover is alot lighter, but people on here will give you the pros and cons of them

Well I still have to source an engine so I will go for the one that is going to be the easiest to fit. Did you have much frabrication to get it in your MK1 rich?

Fit a SBF with alloy heads and the weight drops to near what a rover weighs, SBCs weigh another 100 lbs more than the SBF, and the SBF is narrower than either the Rover or the Chev,, but is 28.5" long, you can buy short water pumps for the Ford which can save an inch or so.

i had the engine moved back so the bulk head was cut and its got a huge gearbox tunnel, there are some pictures of it in my cars, but i dont know how to do the link, its under escort rear end,
