are there any air filters recommended for the V8? its a flapper efi 3.5.
does the v8 need a very good filter or is it not to fussy?
the ranger rover one was very heavy so dont want to use that.
was thinking of using a standard car one like the rover 45 etc, and just putting a K&N replacement panel filter in it? would this do ok?
the rover 45 one is the same as the mg zr 160, so it supplied air to 160bhp, but i hope to be running more than that after a while.

Hello Ralph,
I use a pair of K & N airfilters in my 4.6 and they are really excellent.
Do be aware though that the K & N filter will pass more air than a standard paper element filter, so your engine will run lean unless adjustments are made to the fueling to maintain the desired air/fuel ratio.

i need a cold air feed to mine so that rights out most K&N cone filters, as engines in the back and engine bay temps will be worse than a front engined car.
being efi im fairly sure it will automatically adjust to having a freer flowing air filter, as the air flow meter should adjust it.
i have been pointed to wards a landrover 300TDI air filter, as they are big and easily located.

I'd say that wouldnt be a problem at all, if your still dubious you could retain the box but put bigger ports on it and make them a bit more central to the filter inside it- and put a cone filter in (or double cone) as you get much more surface area than a standard flat filter- though with a K&N I'm sure a flat replacement filter would easily handle 200bhp!!!
