The petrol tank on my car isn't linear - in fact its triangular shaped, which means the smiths fuel gauge is meaningless. So I made a simple digital fuel gauge that is calibrated to the exact amount of fuel in the tank.


Easy and cheap to make - handy if you just want to know more accurately what's in your tank.

was going to post over at msefi - but couldn't be bothered.

It's all a lot friendlier now. You have reminded me that I project I need to resurrect is a universal sender that can easily be fitted to tanks.

The link to the fuel filter you mention....

It looks incredibly small. Is it up to the job as a pre-filter for the pump ??

I know the Aeromotive and SX filters are about the same size as the Bosch pump itself..
The last place you want a restricition, is before the pump. It could cause cavitation, which will shorten pump life.


Im using a VDO tube style sender in my tank. Works pretty good with the Ford guage in my car ( I specified resistances at the time ). Although for some reason when installed, wont read properly abouve half a tank. If I remove it, it reads correctly throughout its travel...weird.

Well I ordered a this one http://www.bsr-aerotek.com/store/produc ... ts_id=3727 but the one in the photo turned up which is just a simple flat mesh filter, the mesh is similar to the one that you can see inside the pump inlet.
Is it up to the job? - who knows.
