10.5 clutch cover

hiya all,
Anyone know the depth of the 10.5ins clutch cover.
The dimension from the flywheel to the cover top.
Starting to take my engine out tomorrow and need to know how much clearance i will have when running the LT77 & bellhousing.

there might be some acceptions but generally a 10.5" clutch doesn't fit in a standard LT77 housing.

if so why does a Mc Leod 10.5" do fit inside a non modifiet LT77 2wd SD1 bellhouse????. On a std flywheel.

Well I bought an 10.5" Mc Leod kit at Real Steel for my LT77 and they told me it would fit without any modification other than modifie the flywheel to accept the larger clutch cover ( remove the studs and drill new holes ).
They where right, it was an easy job, it was a straight fit without any modifications to the bellhouse, gearbox, hydraulicclutch linkage or whatsoever.
So shoot me but I'd say a 10,5" kit will fit.......

hiya all,
Well why do i need 10.5ins clutch.
I dont think i do, but i made a decision to run the GEMS efi for my new 4.6 engine for my westie.
But the flywheel needs and has a reluctor ring on the rear, and if i run a 9.5ins clutch the bolts will go straight through the reluctor ring.
If i use a 10.5 clutch, it would fit as standard but possibly not fit the LT77 bellhousing.
So i just need to know how deep the 10.5ins cover is, so i can work out how much clearance there would be.
Otherwise i have in mind a bespoke flywheel, but this is the expensive option.
Just looks like to many problems to run a 9.5ins clutch and the GEMS flywheel, if you see some of my previous posts.
I know the 10.5 will fit, but with a GEMS flywheel????..

Then my answer is ....... I have no idea! Sorry.
Westfield fitted some factory cars with GEMS (I believe it took them a while to get it working without all the other RR wiring) so maybe they know the answer. I know they use the R380 but aren't the bellhousings the same? (or is that another can of worms ! )

How much more torque will a std 10.5 (same as land rovers?) be able than a std 9.5 cover? If a 10.5 std cover will take as much as a performance 9.5 cover and fit in the bellhousing is this not a cheaper way of getting a meatier clutch?!

hiya all,
So engine came out today, so i can see what problems/clearance using the LT77 bellhousing and a 10.5ins clutch.
So far the GEMS flywheel is 10.8mm thicker than the standard SD1 flywheel.
This means that the 10.5ins clutch would fit in the bellhousing but only with a re-drilled standard flywheel or mcleod flywheel.
My GEMS flywheel fits in the housing ok, but only leaves less than 40mm distance to the edge of the bellhousing for the clutch cover to fit.
What i need now is a 10.5ins clutch cover to try in.
If anyone has a knackered one i could buy for the price of postage...
So still looking at my options.

in case it helps , im running a 11 inch plate in a 10.5 cover mcload make ,with centrifugal asssist ...works well,all in a sd1 bell housing .

I have McLeod flywheel and 10,5" clutch in a LT77 bellhousing. Fitted without any modifications.
