How long for stuff to come from the US?

Post by Mark »

I won these on Ebay and it's been three weeks

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 88760&rd=1

I asked them for a tracking number and got this in reply

"I did ship them, although international we use the mail so unfortunately there is not a tracking number"

Hi
My experience is that if it is "UPS priority surface" which is how most stuff is sent to me then it is left at the local deport, transported to the nearest airport (1 day) whaits 1 to 2 days at the airport for a flight, flown here and then sits in customs 3 to 5 days, passed to parcel force who sit on it for 1 to 2 days then they send you a letter second class wanting the VAT, duty and handling fee so total 1 to 2 weeks.

Is "the mail" USPS rather than UPS ?

I' used NewEra for my 60lb injectors and didn't have any issues, cant recall how he sent them though.

USPS is normal post and will arrive via royal mail this side (plus fees). UPS is far quicker, usually just a few days.

i bought some injectors via ebay this year,
they were sent UPS or was it UPSS cant remember off hand, but they were paid for on a tuesday night,
Friday night the same week they cleared UK customs, and were on my door step the Monday, just under a week from paying to being delivered to my door,
AND they gave me a tracking number as it was an international order,

did you pay via paypal?
if so contact them and tell them the situation,
as you should be covered,

The last piece I orderd from EBay, via the US took over 3 weeks, and stuff I orderd because somebody overhere said "I have an Air Feright Container" leaving in 2 days, "less than a week to get here", Im still waiting 3 weeks later, which is slightly p-ssing me off at the moment, should have ordered it myself, at least I know it would have been here by now!!!!.

For UPS three weeks is a long time, USPS it is above average but not beyond my experiance (often UK customs or Parcel force!!) depends where it is comming from, some of these Ebay stores are in the middle of nowhere though.

Hello,
It depends of the size of the parcel, but here in Belgium for large parcel from USA by USPS sea mail the delay is 6 weeks :( .
For small parcel by Air mail : 10 days.

I didnt think surface mail was even available anymore, unless it was for very large heavy items.

Although often USPS regular service quoting 1-2 weeks....can often take 2-4 weeks.

USPS surface mail is trucks/ trains across the states to the nearest international airport, then flight across the atlantic then lost in customs  One parcel of mine, acording to the tracking system, on USPS priority surface spent 36 hours in the air, neat trick.
I would go and visit your local parcel force deport (if it was sent USPS), don't bother to call the "help line" it is populated by rude monkies, the guys in the office can be very helpfull and Know how to track through the system (do you have a waybill no?), and on more than one occasion have had the parcel in their deport and are awaiting the release paperwork from head office, they may give you the thing and let head office chase you for the money later (oops I seem to owe them for the last 2 parcels).
Best regards

Cool.
Those are the same pigtails he supplied me. Check that all the wires are crimped tightly- as 1 or 2 of mine fell out.
I purchased some rubber boots from vehicle wiring products to go over them (in fact whilst your'e there - you can order spare ones. Search mini timer connectors)
