Thanks!

I don't think you realy want a short oilfilter. You'd better of with a remote filterkit.
My guess, you're having problems with the antirollbar

Yup! Damn anti roll bar again! I was using an sd1 front aocver with a remote filter and mocal oil pump base but i've changed to a 3.9 serp front cover and can't use the pump base.

Because my engine bay looks really cluttered i wanted to do away with the remote filter but so far it's not looking possible so i'll need to get a take of plate for the pump and new oil lines to suit the remote filter and new front cover BUT i'm hoping someone knows of a filter that may fit!

P5 P-6 filters are the shortest filters available But as JP says they arent recommended by many people. Never used them myself so cant comment. Should also say I am assuming they didn't change the filter thread and boss on the serp.

Somwhere in my past I used a Renault 5 or clio filter, its about 2" deep.

R5 is pretty small....

Pretty much any filter with the correct thread will do...

Im using a very small and no doubt crappy Citroen filter on my LS1 engine. Same size as its supposed to, so guess it cant do any harm.

It normally came with a tpyically odd 13/16" thread, which made sourcing a filter impossible.
I just changed it to M20, and now filters are a doddle.

Not all filters are the same internally - some have anti-drain valves etc.

I use a Carlton 3.0L item. Much shorter than std RV8 but bigger diameter so giving a similar filtration area and pressure drop.

I've just checked all those filters out and they'd be borderline. I think i need to get the sandwhich plate and some new lines, anyone know somewhere cheap to get them from? And what thread i'd need?

This is what i'm using at present.

If you are using the mocal oilpump adaptor.....you need more clearance than that offers ?????????

"the mocal oilpump adaptor"

Doesn't fit the serp front cover.

I think what Gav is after is a screw on adapter that has two ports similar to the mocal plate - I have one in the loft for a buick but the center thread is bigger than the Rover version.

Summit Racing do various filter relocation kits with spin on adaptors that will fit where the oil filter goes.
