LT77 Clutch bleeding

Post by tetlow »

Any tips on bleeding the clutch slave cylinder on my LT77 Gents?

I have reverse bled it using a pipe from the brake caliper, pumping the brakes until the clutch master is full, and it seemed to work OK, but I don't seem to be able to select gears easily.

I am in the middle of a rebuild and have not been able to properly test the clutch. I have no seats, gear knob etc, and the gear lever is a small stubby job.

Any clever procedures or checks would be appreciated.

I am using Silicon fluid, and Redline in the box.

Regards

Dave

I assume you have the standard MGB clutch master cylinder.

Last time I bled my clutch I had to unbolt it from the bellhousing and let it hang to get a bubble out.

Have you got a new master cylinder pushrod and clevis pin? These wear out quicker on the clutch than the brakes and you don't need to loose much travel to have problems.

The master cylinder is almost new, as is the slave cylinder, but I havn't checked the rod and clevis pin.

I will try and bleed with the slave hanging.

Should I push the slave actuation rod alll the way in when I bleed?

Cheers
