Er Plugs out, squirt of oil down each plug hole, fill a nice fresh clean oil filter with oil and install, a fresh battery and spin it on the starter till you see oil pressure, the oil pump is a decent design so should self prime (its not a rover  ) I am presuming you smothered everything in assembly lube as you built it (especially the cam) so you should be ok. If you are in doubt then pack the pump with vasaline, but you only really do this on the rover as it is a cr***y design.
You could pull the oil pressure sender out and squirt oil down the gallery that way but I would let the pump do it for you.
best regards
Mike

cheers mate,I did use loads of assembly lube when I built engine(that was two years ago though!) Nice to know there are chevy v8s out there!
Hope your not suggesting the Chevy is better than a Rover!

its pretty easy to make a tool from a bit of metal - although i cant remember what the end of it looks like now.
A big long screwdriver with the handle cut of (cheapy from b&q) could work.
