I'm currently running my 4.6 SD1 with Edelbrock 500 with the standard SD1 intank fule pump and plastic fuel delivery hose. The pump runs at 4.5psi which is ok but at full bore for extended periods I'm concerned that it will not sustain adequate fuel flow.

Summit do a complete fuel system kit which includes their own brand pump and regulator plus 20 ft of 3/8 inch braided steel hose and all necessary fittings. The pump is rated at 5 - 12psi and 140GPH capacity.
The kit is quite reasonably priced, and while not in the same league as Automotive or Russell fuel systems it looks like it would do the job.

Just did some reasearch on the web and a couple of posts from Cobra owners in the US claim the Summit pumps are junk - one poster did'nt even get out of his driveway before it packed up, another failed on its first outing 20 miles from home.

I guess Mallory or Aeromotive pumps with Earle pipes and fittings may be a better option, albeit a much more expensive one. Another case of you only get what you pay for and the Summit brand name stuff is cheaper because it comes from China and may be made with inferior parts to less than ideal standards (I believe there were some same quality issues with the Summit brand high output cd ignition systems which they were promoting against MSD, etc).

Looks like a very poor copy of a holley red pump.........

go buy a proper pump and regulatoris the best advice.

(and them facet 'red top' pumps are crap)

The Carter/Federal Mogul pumps are cheap, and flow lots of fuel.

Most high flow pumps will need a return style regulator though.

i use a red top fuel pump and regulate it to 3psi,works okay for my 3.9.do the edelbrock carbs have a top fuel pressure limit?im sure that 4.5 psi should be fine,a rolling road tune up should show fup uel flow problems at high speed.

just found it on the net,they say that the carb must not exceed past 6psi pressure
