Manual Flywheel with trigger wheel.

Did they ever do a newstyle RV8 (late Serp with rear trigger wheel) with a manual gear box.

as finding it very hard to find one. also the latest serp engines there is not front balance wheel to fit a front trigger wheel too.

I want to fit a LT77 Maunal box. to a late RV8 and use a Emerald ECU.

I'm sure im not the one who want to use a manual gearbox.

Thanks
Leigh

I'm pretty sure they did - Discovery 4.0 manual, but I've never seen one....

Being 4x4 these will be huge anyway, course you might want it for a 4x4 lol

There are a few manual flywheels with the trigger apparently, but Rocking Horse Poo springs to mind.

I believe the 'toothed' part is a separate machining riveted in place. It may be more feasible to attempt to fix one of these parts to your manual flywheel?

If Emerald will support Hall Sensors you could just fit magnetic studs to the flywheel I suppose?

Is there no way you can mount a trigger wheel in a serp engine on the inside of the bottom pully??

Well bu**er me with a banana:

Manual flywheel from a 4.0 litre discovery. £65. Not cheap, but given it's rarity...

One of the automatic flywheels has the pickup assembly rivetted on. Maybe it could be transferred to an older flywheel.

Look here: http://www.cowdery.org.uk/miscv8.php for a pic. It's the Gems one.

Some one beat me to it.

It would not be posible to mount the auto trigger wheel without a lot of machining to the back of the flywheel.

That flywheel would be very heavy and not suitable for a race car.

I am not an expert on EFI but have seen a 36 -1 toothed wheel that will fit on the inner face of the front pulley which would save you a lot of grief and be a much cheaper solution.
Try doing sa search in the archives.

I have the very very short front end, and there is no where to put a trigger wheel on the front.

Yes.

I'd be laughing if I had one of them.

It's stange the old ones had a lot of balance weights and this one has none.

are they balanced differently.

Also whould balance would be affected by the pull of the pullies, or does it not work like that.

I just joined the forum so I could post a reply to this thread.

I have been thinking of the same modification for my MGB project and found the following link which shows some photos of the modifications necessary to fit the GEMS trigger wheel to a manual SD1 flywheel. You may be able to get more specifics by contacting the author of the site. If you do, please post what you find as I would be interested to know how involved a process it is.
