Hi all,
I am converting an MGB to V8, what is the best way to inform the insurance (and the DVLA) without them hammering me on the cost of the premium to much?
Who are the best insurance companies?
Cheers Adam

To be honest fitting a V8 wont increase the insurance by too much at all, especially in a classic like the MGB. When I was 24-25 my 1800cc MGB cost about £700 to insure (in liverpool).
A year later I bought my MGB V8 twin turbo and had it down in reading, agreed value, for about the same money!
I've had recent quotes for it with all mods declared (and there's hundreds of them!) and agreed value of something daft like £20k for about £800 back in liverpool! I did have to shop around tho as most people said it was too modified and wouldn't touch it, and I needed an engineers report as well.
As for the DVLA, er, it still says 1800cc on the log book!

Sorry forgot to say, I was with Lancaster Insurance. Also went with a company thru the MG Owners Club initially and they were very good as well.
My friend got very good deals with a small firm called Peter burgess I believe but I no longer have the details (think they're in north wales somewhere!). I have found that small insurance companies and more likely to cover you, especially if you are under 30 like me and all my friends with silly classic cars lol.

Classicline cover my V8 Healey for 3000 miles a year, fully comp and agreed value for about £250 year. Never had to claim though

I use Adrian Flux, unlimited mileage, TPFT, about £150 for a 4.6V8 in a series Land Rover.

Oh yes, your other question - DVLA are easy, you just alter the necessary boxes on the V5, and send it back to them.

My land rover is a 3528cc 4 cylinder!
Converting to the v8 only cost me the admin fees for my insurance when I was 22.
