Hi, can some one tell me or give me some instruction on how to set the tappets/rockers on a solid lifter set up when you have no info on the camshaft other than solid lifters and adjustable rockers many thanks ,David.

Hi
as a start try 20 thou clearance, without any spec though this is a bit of a guess, (it is the figure for my mech roller cam) what lift have you, any idea of timing (if the cam is in the engine, can you give us the .05" lift points?)
For the rockers, the contact point at the start of lift should be on the inside (rocker side) of valve stem centre, at half lift it should have moved to the same distance the other side and back to the inside by full lift, you will have to shim the pedistals and get the right length push rods to get this right (probably need an ajustable push rod to measure this).
Is this a rover engine??

There is a "STICKY" topic at the top of the Engines page on just how to do just this, that should answer most of what you want to know.
