Flexplate interchange?

Hello all
I was wondering if there is anything unique to the 4.6 automatic trans flexplate and spacer.. or will all Rover flexpplates and adapters interchange?
External balance does not matter as I plan to internal balance the rotating assembly.

In other words will a 3.9 or 4.0 flexplate work with on a 4.6 block and crank? as long as I have it internally balanced

Now you have simplified the question the answer is much easier!
Yes a 3.9 flex and spacer/adapter will fit a 4.0/4.6 crankshaft - but it will only work if you use a 3.9 gearbox (ZF4HP22) and the convertor from the same.
The 4.0 and 4.6 flex plates are different, both from each other, and from earlier ones and are designed to make up the difference in size between a 4.0 convertor and 4.6 convertor when fitted in the same 4HP24 bellhousing.
As for balanced, all Rover V8s are 'internally' balanced by US terminology (at the rear crank plane) so no need to worry about that.

I will be mating the Stroked Rover 4.6 to a General Motors 200R4 overdrive automatic transmission when done.
I need to have the flexplate and spacer on hand for exchange to the company that makes the adapter plate for the swap.
The engine and Trans will be going into a 1977 Chevy Vega when complete.
Is there any variation on the starters themselves? tooth count,length of snout, etc
Which starter would be the most compact Gear reduction drive type for use?
