3.9 centre main bearing

Hi I am building a 3.9 intermediate engine and ordered standard bearings and proceeded to install them with thrusts top and bottom as I had read on an older thread that was acceptable to ‘alter’ the tongue in the bottom shell. Now everything is torqued up fine, all oilways line up, pistons and rods all in and torqued and there is adequate end float on the crank. Question do I remove the center cap and order another shell? Or will all be ok? Sorry if this has been asked before but there never seems to be any follow up as to whether it works or not. I personally would have thought that with a manual transmission the more thrust support the better?????
